¹Ertesi yıl, kralların sefere çıktığı dönemde Yoav ordunun tüm gücünü sevk etti ve Ammon oğullarının ülkesini harap ettiler; gidip Rabba'yı kuşattı. Davut ise Yeruşalim'de kalıyordu. Yoav Rabba'ya saldırıp onu temeline kadar yıktı.

²Davut, onların kralı Molhom'un başındaki tacı aldı; tacın ağırlığının bir talant altın olduğu ve üzerinde değerli bir taş bulunduğu saptandı. Bu taç Davut'un başına konuldu. Davut kentten son derece büyük miktarda savaş ganimeti de çıkardı.

³Kentteki halkı dışarı çıkarıp onları testerelerle, demir keserlerle ve yarma baltalarıyla kesti. Davut tüm Ammon oğullarına bu şekilde davrandı. Sonra Davut ve tüm halkı Yeruşalim'e döndü.

⁴Bundan sonra Gezer'de yabancılarla yeniden savaş çıktı. O sırada Huşalı Sobohay, devlerin soyundan gelen Safut'u vurup öldürdü ve onu dize getirdi.

⁵Yabancılarla yine savaş çıktı. Yair oğlu Elanan, Gatlı Golyat'ın kardeşi Lahmi'yi öldürdü. Lahmi'nin mızrağının sapı dokumacıların masura silindiri gibiydi.

⁶Gat'ta yine savaş çıktı. Orada olağanüstü büyüklükte bir adam vardı; ellerinde ve ayaklarında altışar olmak üzere yirmi dört parmağı vardı. O da devlerin soyundandı.

⁷Bu adam İsrail'i aşağılayıp meydan okuyunca, Davut'un kardeşi Şama'nın oğlu Yonatan onu öldürdü.

⁸Bunlar Gat'ta Rafa'nın soyundan doğanlardı; hepsi de dört devdi ve Davut ile askerlerinin eliyle can verdiler.

¹ΚΑΙ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ ἐπιόντι ἔτει ἐν τῇ ἐξόδῳ τῶν βασιλέων καὶ ἤγαγεν ᾿Ιωὰβ πᾶσαν τὴν δύναμιν τῆς στρατιᾶς, καὶ ἔφθειραν τὴν χώραν υἱῶν ᾿Αμμών· καὶ ἦλθε καὶ περιεκάθισε τὴν Ῥαββά· καὶ Δαυὶδ ἐκάθισεν ἐν ῾Ιερουσαλήμ· καὶ ἐπάταξεν ᾿Ιωὰβ τὴν Ῥαββὰ καὶ κατέσκαψεν αὐτήν.

²καὶ ἔλαβε Δαυὶδ τὸν στέφανον Μολχὸμ τοῦ βασιλέως αὐτῶν ἀπὸ τῆς κεφαλῆς αὐτοῦ, καὶ εὑρέθη ὁ σταθμὸς αὐτοῦ τάλαντον χρυσίου, καὶ ἐν αὐτῷ λίθος τίμιος, καὶ ἦν ἐπὶ τὴν κεφαλὴν Δαυίδ· καὶ σκῦλα τῆς πόλεως ἐξήνεγκε πολλὰ σφόδρα.

³καὶ τὸν λαὸν τὸν ἐν αὐτῇ ἐξήγαγε καὶ διέπρισε πρίοσι καὶ ἐν σκεπάρνοις σιδηροῖς καὶ ἐν διασχίζουσι· καὶ οὕτως ἐποίησε Δαυὶδ τοῖς πᾶσιν υἱοῖς ᾿Αμμών. καὶ ἀνέστρεψε Δαυὶδ καὶ πᾶς ὁ λαὸς αὐτοῦ εἰς ῾Ιερουσαλήμ.

⁴καὶ ἐγένετο μετὰ ταῦτα καὶ ἐγένετο ἔτι πόλεμος ἐν Γαζὲρ μετὰ τῶν ἀλλοφύλων. τότε ἐπάταξε Σοβοχαὶ ὁ Οὐσαθὶ τὸν Σαφοὺ ἀπὸ τῶν υἱῶν τῶν γιγάντων, καὶ ἐταπείνωσεν αὐτόν.

⁵καὶ ἐγένετο ἔτι πόλεμος μετὰ τῶν ἀλλοφύλων. καὶ ἐπάταξεν ᾿Ελλανὰν υἱὸς ᾿Ιαΐρ τὸν Λαχμὶ ἀδελφὸν Γολιὰθ τοῦ Γεθθαίου, καὶ ξύλον δόρατος αὐτοῦ ὡς ἀντίον ὑφαινόντων.

⁶καὶ ἐγένετο ἔτι πόλεμος ἐν Γέθ, καὶ ἦν ἀνὴρ ὑπερμεγέθης, καὶ δάκτυλοι αὐτοῦ ἓξ καὶ ἕξ, εἰκοσιτέσσαρες, καὶ οὗτος ἦν ἀπόγονος γιγάντων.

⁷καὶ ὠνείδισε τὸν ᾿Ισραήλ, καὶ ἐπάταξεν αὐτὸν ᾿Ιωνάθαν υἱὸς Σαμαὰ ἀδελφοῦ Δαυίδ.

⁸οὗτοι ἐγένοντο Ῥαφὰ ἐν Γέθ· πάντες ἦσαν τέσσαρες γίγαντες, καὶ ἔπεσον ἐν χειρὶ Δαυὶδ καὶ ἐν χειρὶ παίδων αὐτοῦ.

¹And it came to pass at the return of the year, at the [time of the] going forth of kings [to war], that Joab gathered the whole force of the army, and they ravaged the land of the children of Ammon; and he came and besieged Rabba. But David abode in Jerusalem. And Joab smote Rabba and destroyed it.

²And David took the crown of Molchom their king off his head, and the weight of it was found [to be] a talent of gold, and on it were precious stones; and it was [placed] on the head of David: and he brought out the spoils of the city [which were] very great.

³And he brought out the people that were in it, and sawed them asunder with saws, and [cut them] with iron axes, and with harrows: and thus David did to all the children of Ammon. And David and all his people returned to Jerusalem.

⁴And it came to pass afterward that there was again war with the Philistines in Gazer: then Sobochai the Sosathite smote Saphut of the sons of the giants, and laid him low.

⁵And there [was] war again with the Philistines; and Eleanan the son of Jair smote Lachmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, and the wood of his spear [was] as a weavers’ beam.

⁶And there was again war in Geth, and there was a man of extraordinary size, and his fingers [and toes were] six on each hand and foot, four and twenty; and he was descended from the giants.

⁷And he defied Israel, and Jonathan the son of Samaa the brother of David slew him.

⁸These were born to Rapha in Geth; all four were giants, and they fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.
