¹Rab Musa’ya Sina Çölü’nde, Şahitlik Çadırı’nda, Mısır diyarından çıkışlarının ikinci yılının ikinci ayının birinci gününde şöyle seslendi:

²"Bütün İsrail topluluğunun sayımını soylarına, ata evlerine, adlarının sayısına göre baş başa yapın.

⁴¹Aşer oymağından sayılanlar kırk bir bin beş yüz kişiydi.

⁴²Naftali oğulları: Soylarına, klanlarına, ata evlerine göre, adlarının sayısına göre, baş başa, yirmi ve daha yukarı yaştaki orduyla savaşa çıkabilecek bütün erkekler sayıldı.

⁴³Naftali oymağından sayılanlar elli üç bin dört yüz kişiydi.

⁴⁴Musa, Harun ve her biri kendi ata evinin oymağını temsil eden İsrail’in on iki önderi tarafından yapılan sayım buydu.

⁴⁵İsrail oğullarından, yirmi ve daha yukarı yaştaki, İsrail’de orduyla savaşa çıkabilecek durumda olup sayılanların tümü,

⁴⁶altı yüz üç bin beş yüz elli kişiydi.

⁴⁷Ancak Levililer, kendi ata oymaklarına göre İsrail oğulları arasında sayılmadılar.

⁴⁸Çünkü RAB Musa’ya şöyle demişti:

⁴⁹"Yalnız Levi oymağını saymayacaksın ve İsrail oğullarının arasında onların nüfus sayımını yapmayacaksın.

⁵⁰Bunun yerine Levilileri Şahitlik Çadırı’nın, onun bütün eşyalarının ve ona ait her şeyin üzerine görevli ata. Çadırı ve bütün eşyalarını onlar taşıyacaklar, orada hizmet edecekler ve çadırın çevresinde ordugah kuracaklar.

⁵¹Çadır göçeceği zaman onu Levililer indirecek, çadır kurulacağı zaman da onu Levililer kuracak; yaklaşan yabancı ise öldürülecektir.

⁵²İsrail oğulları, her adam kendi düzenine ve her adam kendi sancağına göre ordularıyla ordugah kuracak.

⁵³Ama Levililer, İsrail oğulları arasında bir günah/suç oluşmasın diye Şahitlik Çadırı’nın çevresinde ordugah kuracaklar; Levililer Şahitlik Çadırı’nın nöbetini tutacaklar."

⁵⁴İsrail oğulları bütün bunları yaptı; RAB’bin Musa ve Harun’a buyurduğu her şeyi tamı tamına yerine getirdiler.

¹ΚΑΙ ἐλάλησε Κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ τῇ Σινά, ἐν τῇ σκηνῇ τοῦ μαρτυρίου, ἐν μιᾷ τοῦ μηνὸς τοῦ δευτέρου, ἔτους δευτέρου ἐξελθόντων αὐτῶν ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου λέγων·

²λάβετε ἀρχὴν πάσης συναγωγῆς ᾿Ισραὴλ κατὰ συγγενείας, κατ’ οἴκους πατριῶν αὐτῶν, κατ’ ἀριθμὸν ἐξ ὀνόματος αὐτῶν, κατὰ κεφαλὴν αὐτῶν.

³πᾶς ἄρσην ἀπὸ εἰκοσαετοῦς καὶ ἐπάνω, πᾶς ὁ ἐκπορευόμενος ἐν δυνάμει ᾿Ισραήλ, ἐπισκέψασθε αὐτοὺς σὺν δυνάμει αὐτῶν, σὺ καὶ ᾿Ααρὼν ἐπισκέψασθε αὐτούς.

⁴καὶ μεθ’ ὑμῶν ἔσονται ἕκαστος κατὰ φυλὴν ἑκάστου ἀρχόντων, κατ’ οἴκους πατριῶν ἔσονται.

⁵καὶ ταῦτα τὰ ὀνόματα τῶν ἀνδρῶν, οἵτινες παραστήσονται μεθ’ ὑμῶν· τῶν Ῥουβήν, ᾿Ελισοὺρ υἱὸς Σεδιούρ·

²⁴τοῖς υἱοῖς ᾿Ιούδα κατὰ συγγενείας αὐτῶν, κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν, κατ’ οἴκους πατριῶν αὐτῶν, κατὰ ἀριθμὸν ὀνομάτων αὐτῶν, κατὰ κεφαλὴν αὐτῶν, πάντα ἀρσενικὰ ἀπὸ εἰκοσαετοῦς καὶ ἐπάνω, πᾶς ὁ ἐκπορευόμενος ἐν τῇ δυνάμει,

²⁵ἡ ἐπίσκεψις αὐτῶν ἐκ τῆς φυλῆς ᾿Ιούδα τέσσαρες καὶ ἑβδομήκοντα χιλιάδες καὶ ἑξακόσιοι.

²⁶τοῖς υἱοῖς ᾿Ισσάχαρ κατὰ συγγενείας αὐτῶν, κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν, κατ’ οἴκους πατριῶν αὐτῶν, κατὰ ἀριθμὸν ὀνομάτων αὐτῶν, κατὰ κεφαλὴν αὐτῶν, πάντα ἀρσενικὰ ἀπὸ εἰκοσαετοῦς καὶ ἐπάνω, πᾶς ὁ ἐκπορευόμενος ἐν τῇ δυνάμει,

²⁷ἡ ἐπίσκεψις αὐτῶν ἐκ τῆς φυλῆς ᾿Ισσάχαρ τέσσαρες καὶ πεντήκοντα χιλιάδες καὶ τετρακόσιοι.

²⁸τοῖς υἱοῖς Ζαβουλὼν κατὰ συγγενείας αὐτῶν, κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν, κατ’ οἴκους πατριῶν αὐτῶν, κατ’ ἀριθμὸν ὀνομάτων αὐτῶν, κατὰ κεφαλὴν αὐτῶν, πάντα ἀρσενικὰ ἀπὸ εἰκοσαετοῦς καὶ ἐπάνω, πᾶς ὁ ἐκπορευόμενος ἐν τῇ δυνάμει,

²⁹ἡ ἐπίσκεψις αὐτῶν ἐκ τῆς φυλῆς Ζαβουλὼν ἑπτὰ καὶ πεντήκοντα χιλιάδες καὶ τετρακόσιοι.

³⁰τοῖς υἱοῖς ᾿Ιωσὴφ υἱοῖς ᾿Εφραὶμ κατὰ συγγενείας αὐτῶν, κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν, κατ’ οἴκους πατριῶν αὐτῶν, κατὰ ἀριθμὸν ὀνομάτων αὐτῶν, κατὰ κεφαλὴν αὐτῶν, πάντα ἀρσενικὰ ἀπὸ εἰκοσαετοῦς καὶ ἐπάνω, πᾶς ὁ ἐκπορευόμενος ἐν τῇ δυνάμει,

³¹ἡ ἐπίσκεψις αὐτῶν ἐκ τῆς φυλῆς ᾿Εφραὶμ τεσσαράκοντα χιλιάδες καὶ πεντακόσιοι.

³²τοῖςυἱοῖς Μανασσῆ κατὰ συγγενείας αὐτῶν, κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν, κατ’ οἴκους πατριῶν αὐτῶν, κατὰ ἀριθμὸν ὀνομάτων αὐτῶν, κατὰ κεφαλὴν αὐτῶν, πάντα ἀρσενικὰ ἀπὸ εἰκοσαετοῦς καὶ ἐπάνω, πᾶς ὁ ἐκπορευόμενος ἐν τῇ δυνάμει,

³³ἡ ἐπίσκεψις αὐτῶν ἐκ τῆς φυλῆς Μανασσῆ δύο καὶ τριάκοντα χιλιάδες καὶ διακόσιοι.

³⁴τοῖςυἱοῖς Βενιαμὶν κατὰ συγγενείας αὐτῶν, κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν, κατ’ οἴκους πατριῶν αὐτῶν, κατὰ ἀριθμὸν ὀνομάτων αὐτῶν, κατὰ κεφαλὴν αὐτῶν, πάντα ἀρσενικὰ ἀπὸ εἰκοσαετοῦς καὶ ἐπάνω, πᾶς ὁ ἐκπορευόμενος ἐν τῇ δυνάμει,

³⁵ἡ ἐπίσκεψις αὐτῶν ἐκ τῆς φυλῆς Βενιαμὶν πέντε καὶ τριάκοντα χιλιάδες καὶ τετρακόσιοι.

³⁶τοῖςυἱοῖς Γὰδ κατὰ συγγενείας αὐτῶν, κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν, κατ’ οἴκους πατριῶν αὐτῶν, κατὰ ἀριθμὸν ὀνομάτων αὐτῶν, κατὰ κεφαλὴν αὐτῶν, πάντα ἀρσενικὰ ἀπὸ εἰκοσαετοῦς καὶ ἐπάνω, πᾶς ὁ ἐκπορευόμενος ἐν τῇ δυνάμει,

³⁷ἡ ἐπίσκεψις αὐτῶν ἐκ τῆς φυλῆς Γὰδ πέντε καὶ τεσσαράκοντα χιλιάδες καὶ ἑξακόσιοι καὶ πεντήκοντα.

³⁸τοῖςυἱοῖς Δὰν κατὰ συγγενείας αὐτῶν, κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν, κατ’ οἴκους πατριῶν αὐτῶν, κατὰ ἀριθμὸν ὀνομάτων αὐτῶν, κατὰ κεφαλὴν αὐτῶν, πάντα ἀρσενικὰ ἀπὸ εἰκοσαετοῦς καὶ ἐπάνω, πᾶς ὁ ἐκπορευόμενος ἐν τῇ δυνάμει,

³⁹ἡ ἐπίσκεψις αὐτῶν ἐκ τῆς φυλῆς Δὰν δύο καὶ ἑξήκοντα χιλιάδες καὶ ἑπτακόσιοι.

⁴⁰τοῖςυἱοῖς ᾿Ασὴρ κατὰ συγγενείας αὐτῶν, κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν, κατ’ οἴκους πατριῶν αὐτῶν, κατὰ ἀριθμὸν ὀνομάτων αὐτῶν, κατὰ κεφαλὴν αὐτῶν, πάντα ἀρσενικὰ ἀπὸ εἰκοσαετοῦς καὶ ἐπάνω, πᾶς ὁ ἐκπορευόμενος ἐν τῇ δυνάμει,

⁴¹ἡ ἐπίσκεψις αὐτῶν ἐκ τῆς φυλῆς ᾿Ασὴρ μία καὶ τεσσαράκοντα χιλιάδες καὶ πεντακόσιοι.

⁴²τοῖςυἱοῖς Νεφθαλὶ κατὰ συγγενείας αὐτῶν, κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν, κατ’ οἴκους πατριῶν αὐτῶν, κατὰ ἀριθμὸν ὀνομάτων αὐτῶν, κατὰ κεφαλὴν αὐτῶν, πάντα ἀρσενικὰ ἀπὸ εἰκοσαετοῦς καὶ ἐπάνω, πᾶς ὁ ἐκπορευόμενος ἐν τῇ δυνάμει,

⁴³ἡ ἐπίσκεψις αὐτῶν ἐκ τῆς φυλῆς Νεφθαλὶ τρεῖς καὶ πεντήκοντα χιλιάδες καὶ τετρακόσιοι.

⁴⁴αὕτη ἡ ἐπίσκεψις, ἣν ἐπεσκέψαντο Μωυσῆς καὶ ᾿Ααρὼν καὶ οἱ ἄρχοντες ᾿Ισραήλ, δώδεκα ἄνδρες· ἀνὴρ εἷς κατὰ φυλὴν μίαν, κατὰ φυλὴν οἴκων πατριᾶς ἦσαν.

⁴⁵καὶ ἐγένετο πᾶσα ἡ ἐπίσκεψις υἱῶν ᾿Ισραὴλ σὺν δυνάμει αὐτῶν ἀπὸ εἰκοσαετοῦς καὶ ἐπάνω, πᾶς ὁ ἐκπορευόμενος παρατάξασθαι ἐν ᾿Ισραήλ,

⁴⁶ἑξακόσιαι χιλιάδες καὶ τρισχίλιοι καὶ πεντακόσιοι καὶ πεντήκοντα.

⁴⁷Οἱ δὲ Λευῖται ἐκ τῆς φυλῆς πατριᾶς αὐτῶν οὐκ ἐπεσκέπησαν ἐν τοῖς υἱοῖς ᾿Ισραήλ.

⁴⁸καὶ ἐλάλησε Κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν λέγων·

⁴⁹ὅρα, τὴν φυλὴν Λευὶ οὐ συνεπισκέψῃ, καὶ τὸν ἀριθμὸν αὐτῶν οὐ λήψῃ ἐν μέσῳ υἱῶν ᾿Ισραήλ.

⁵⁰καὶ σὺ ἐπίστησον τοὺς Λευίτας ἐπὶ τὴν σκηνὴν τοῦ μαρτυρίου καὶ ἐπὶ πάντα τὰ σκεύη αὐτῆς καὶ ἐπὶ πάντα ὅσα ἐστὶν ἐν αὐτῇ· αὐτοὶ ἀροῦσι τὴν σκηνὴν καὶ πάντα τὰ σκεύη αὐτῆς, καὶ αὐτοὶ λειτουργήσουσιν ἐν αὐτῇ καὶ κύκλῳ τῆς σκηνῆς παρεμβαλοῦσι.

⁵¹καὶ ἐν τῷ ἐξαίρειν τὴν σκηνήν, καθελοῦσιν αὐτὴν οἱ Λευῖται, καὶ ἐν τῷ παρεμβάλλειν τὴν σκηνήν, ἀναστήσουσι· καὶ ὁ ἀλλογενὴς ὁ προσπορευόμενος ἀποθανέτω.

⁵²καὶ παρεμβαλοῦσιν οἱ υἱοὶ ᾿Ισραήλ, ἀνὴρ ἐν τῇ ἑαυτοῦ τάξει καὶ ἀνὴρ κατὰ τὴν ἑαυτοῦ ἡγεμονίαν σὺν δυνάμει αὐτῶν.

⁵³οἱ δὲ Λευῖται παρεμβαλλέτωσαν ἐναντίοι κύκλῳ τῆς σκηνῆς τοῦ μαρτυρίου, καὶ οὐκ ἔσται ἁμάρτημα ἐν υἱοῖς ᾿Ισραήλ· καὶ φυλάξουσιν οἱ Λευῖται αὐτοὶ τὴν φυλακὴν τῆς σκηνῆς τοῦ μαρτυρίου.

⁵⁴καὶ ἐποίησαν οἱ υἱοὶ ᾿Ισραὴλ κατὰ πάντα, ἃ ἐνετείλατο Κύριος τῷ Μωυσῇ καὶ ᾿Αραρών, οὕτως ἐποίησαν.

¹And the Lord spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sina, in the tabernacle of witness, on the first day of the second month, in the second year of their departure from the land of Egypt, saying,

²Take the sum of all the congregation of Israel according to their kindreds, according to the houses of their fathers’ families, according to their number by their names, according to their heads: every male

³from twenty years old and upwards, every one that goes forth in the forces of Israel, take account of them with their strength; thou and Aaron take account of them.

⁴And with you there shall be each one of the rulers according to the tribe of each: they shall be according to the houses of their families.

⁶Of Symeon, Salamiel the son of Surisadai.

⁷Of Juda, Naasson the son of Aminadab.

⁸Of Issachar, Nathanael the son of Sogar.

⁹Of Zabulon, Eliab the son of Chaelon.

¹⁰Of the sons of Joseph, of Ephraim, Elisama the son of Emiud: of Manasses, Gamaliel the son of Phadasur.

¹¹Of Benjamin, Abidan the son of Gadeoni.

¹²Of Dan, Achiezer the son of Amisadai.

¹³Of Aser, Phagaiel the son of Echran.

¹⁴Of Gad, Elisaph the son of Raguel.

¹⁵Of Nephthali, Achire the son of Aenan.

¹⁶These were famous men of the congregation, heads of the tribes according to their families: these are heads of thousands in Israel.

¹⁷And Moses and Aaron took these men who were called by name.

¹⁸And they assembled all the congregation on the first day of the month in the second year; and they registered them after their lineage, after their families, after the number of their names, from twenty years old and upwards, every male according to their number:

¹⁹as the Lord commanded Moses, so they were numbered in the wilderness of Sina.

²⁰And the sons of Ruben the first-born of Israel according to their kindreds, according to their divisions, according to the houses of their families, according to the number of their names, according to their heads, were-- all males from twenty years old and upward, every one that went out with the host--

²¹the numbering of them of the tribe of Ruben, was forty-six thousand and five hundred.

²²For the children of Symeon according to their kindreds, according to their divisions, according to the houses of their families, according to the number of their names, according to their polls, all males from twenty years old and upward, every one that goes out with the host,

²³the numbering of them of the tribe of Symeon, was fifty-nine thousand and three hundred.

²⁴For the sons of Gad according to their kindreds, according to their divisions, according to the houses of their families, according to the number of their names, according to their polls, all males from twenty years old and upward, every one that goes forth with the host,

²⁵the numbering of them of the tribe of Gad, was forty and five thousand and six hundred and fifty.

²⁶For the sons of Juda according to their kindreds, according to their divisions, according to the houses of their families, according to the number of their names, according to their polls, all males from twenty years old and upward, every one that goes forth with the host,

²⁷the numbering of them of the tribe of Juda, was seventy-four thousand and six hundred.

²⁸For the sons of Issachar according to their kindreds, according to their divisions, according to the houses of their families, according to the number of their names, according to their polls, all males from twenty years old and upward, every one that goes forth with the host,

²⁹the numbering of them of the tribe of Issachar, was fifty-four thousand and four hundred.

³⁰For the sons of Zabulon according to their kindreds, according to their divisions, according to the houses of their families, according to the number of their names, according to their polls, all males from twenty years old and upward, every one that goes out with the host,

³¹the numbering of them of the tribe of Zabulon, was fifty-seven thousand and four hundred.

³²For the sons of Joseph, the sons of Ephraim, according to their kindreds, according to their divisions, according to the houses of their families, according to the number of their names, according to their polls, all males from twenty years old and upward, every one that goes out with the host,

³³the numbering of them of the tribe of Ephraim, was forty thousand and five hundred.

³⁴For the sons of Manasse according to their kindreds, according to their divisions, according to the houses of their families, according to the number of their names, according to their polls, all males from twenty years old and upward, every one that goes out with the host,

³⁵the numbering of them of the tribe of Manasse, was thirty-two thousand and two hundred.

³⁶For the sons of Benjamin according to their kindreds, according to their divisions, according to the houses of their families, according to the number of their names, according to their polls, every male from twenty years old and upward, every one that goes forth with the host,

³⁷the numbering of them of the tribe of Benjamin, was thirty-five thousand and four hundred.

³⁸For the sons of Dan according to their kindreds, according to their divisions, according to the houses of their families, according to the number of their names, according to their polls, all males from twenty years old and upward, every one that goes forth with the host,

³⁹the numbering of them of the tribe of Dan, was sixty and two thousand and seven hundred.

⁴⁰For the sons of Aser according to their kindreds, according to their divisions, according to the houses of their families, according to the number of their names, according to their polls, every male from twenty years old and upward, every one that goes forth with the host,

⁴¹the numbering of them of the tribe of Aser, was forty and one thousand and five hundred.

⁴²For the sons of Nephthali according to their kindreds, according to their divisions, according to the houses of their families, according to the number of their names, according to their polls, every male from twenty years old and upward, every one who goes forth with the host,

⁴³the numbering of them of the tribe of Nephthali, was fifty-three thousand and four hundred.

⁴⁴This is the numbering which Moses and Aaron and the rulers of Israel, being twelve men, conducted: there was a man for each tribe, they were according to the tribe of the houses of their family.

⁴⁵And the whole numbering of the children of Israel with their host from twenty years old and upward, every one that goes out to set himself in battle array in Israel, came to

⁴⁶six hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred and fifty.

⁴⁷But the Levites of the tribe of their family were not counted among the children of Israel.

⁴⁸And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

⁴⁹See, thou shalt not muster the tribe of Levi, and thou shalt not take their numbers, in the midst of the children of Israel.

⁵⁰And do thou set the Levites over the tabernacle of witness, and over all its furniture, and over all things that are in it; and they shall do service in it, and they shall encamp round about the tabernacle.

⁵¹And in removing the tabernacle, the Levites shall take it down, and in pitching the tabernacle they shall set it up: and let the stranger that advances [to touch it] die.

⁵²And the children of Israel shall encamp, every man in his own order, and every man according to his company, with their host.

⁵³But let the Levites encamp round about the tabernacle of witness fronting it, and [so] there shall be no sin among the children of Israel; and the Levites themselves shall keep the guard of the tabernacle of witness.

⁵⁴And the children of Israel did according to all that the Lord commanded Moses and Aaron, so did they.
