1Sur inşa edilip kapıları yerleştirdiğimde; kapıcılar, ezgiciler ve Levililer denetlenip sayıldılar.
2Kardeşim Ananias'ı ve Yeruşalim'deki kalenin yöneticisi Ananias'ı görevlendirdim; çünkü o, birçoklarından daha güvenilir ve Tanrı'dan korkan bir adamdı.
3Onlara dedim ki: "Yeruşalim'in kapıları güneş doğup ortalık ısınana dek açılmasın; ve onlar henüz nöbetteyken kapılar kapatılsın ve kamalanıp sıkıştırılsın. Yeruşalim sakinlerinden öncü nöbetçiler dikilsin; her adam kendi nöbet yerinde ve her adam kendi evinin karşısında dursun."

1ΚΑΙ ἐγένετο ἡνίκα ᾠκοδομήθη τὸ τεῖχος, καὶ ἔστησα τάς θύρας, καὶ ἐπεσκέπησαν οἱ πυλωροὶ καὶ οἱ ἄδοντες καὶ οἱ Λευῖται.
2καὶ ἐνετειλάμην τῷ ᾿Ανανίᾳ ἀδελφῷ μου καὶ τῷ ᾿Ανανίᾳ ἄρχοντι τῆς βιρὰ ἐν ῾Ιερουσαλήμ, ὅτι αὐτὸς ὡς ἀνὴρ ἀληθὴς καὶ φοβούμενος τὸν Θεὸν παρὰ πολλούς,
3καὶ εἶπα αὐτοῖς· οὐκ ἀνοιγήσονται πύλαι ῾Ιερουσαλὴμ ἕως ἅμα τῷ ἡλίῳ, καὶ ἔτι αὐτῶν γρηγορούντων κλειέσθωσαν αἱ θύραι καὶ σφηνούσθωσαν· καὶ στῆσον προφύλακας οἰκούντων ἐν ῾Ιερουσαλήμ, ἀνὴρ ἐν προφυλακῇ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀνὴρ ἀπέναντι οἰκίας αὐτοῦ.
4Καὶ ἡ πόλις πλατεῖα καὶ μεγάλη, καὶ ὁ λαὸς ὀλίγος ἐν αὐτῇ, καὶ οὐκ ἦσαν οἰκίαι ᾠκοδομημέναι.
5καὶ ἔδωκεν ὁ Θεὸς εἰς τὴν καρδίαν μου καὶ συνῆξα τοὺς ἐντίμους καὶ τοὺς ἄρχοντας καὶ τὸν λαὸν εἰς συνοδίας· καὶ εὗρον βιβλίον τῆς συνοδίας, οἳ ἀνέβησαν ἐν πρώτοις, καὶ εὗρον γεγραμμένον ἐν αὐτῷ.
6καὶ οὗτοι υἱοὶ τῆς χώρας οἱ ἀναβάντες ἀπὸ αἰχμαλωσίας τῆς ἀποικίας, ἧς ἀπῴκισε Ναβουχοδονόσορ ὁ βασιλεὺς Βαβυλῶνος καὶ ἐπέστρεψαν εἰς ῾Ιερουσαλὴμ καὶ εἰς ᾿Ιούδα ἀνὴρ εἰς τὴν πόλιν αὐτοῦ
7μετὰ Ζοροβάβελ καὶ ᾿Ιησοῦ καὶ Νεεμία ᾿Αζαρία καὶ Ῥεελμὰ Ναεμανί, Μαρδοχαῖος, Βαλσάν, Μασφαράθ, ῎Εσδρα, Βογουΐα, ᾿Ιναούμ, Βαανά, Μασφάρ, ἄνδρες λαοῦ ᾿Ισραήλ·

61καὶ οὗτοι ἀνέβησαν ἀπὸ Θελμελέθ, Θελαρησά, Χαρούβ, ᾿Ηρών, ᾿Ιεμὴρ καὶ οὐκ ἐδυνάσθησαν ἀπαγγεῖλαι οἴκους πατριῶν αὐτῶν καὶ σπέρμα αὐτῶν εἰ ἀπὸ ᾿Ισραήλ εἰσιν·
62υἱοὶ Δαλαία, υἱοὶ Τωβία, υἱοὶ Νεκωδά, ἑξακόσιοι τεσσαρακονταδύο·
63καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν ἱερέων υἱοὶ ᾿Εβία, υἱοὶ ᾿Ακώς, υἱοὶ Βερζελλί, ὅτι ἔλαβον ἀπὸ θυγατέρων Βερζελλὶ τοῦ Γαλααδίτου γυναῖκας καὶ ἐκλήθησαν ἐπ’ ὀνόματι αὐτῶν·
64οὗτοι ἐζήτησαν γραφὴν αὐτῶν τῆς συνοδίας, καὶ οὐχ εὑρέθη, καὶ ἠγχιστεύθησαν ἀπὸ τῆς ἱερατείας,
65καὶ εἶπεν ᾿Αθερσασθά, ἵνα μὴ φάγωσιν ἀπὸ τοῦ ἁγίου τῶν ἁγίων, ἕως ἀναστῇ ἱερεὺς φωτίσων.
66καὶ ἐγένετο πᾶσα ἡ ἐκκλησία ὡσεὶ τέσσαρες μυριάδες δισχίλιοι τριακόσιοι ἑξήκοντα,
67πάρεξ δούλων αὐτῶν καὶ παιδισκῶν αὐτῶν, οὗτοι ἑπτακισχίλιοι τριακόσιοι τριακονταεπτά· καὶ ᾄδοντες καὶ ᾄδουσαι διακόσιοι τεσσαρακονταπέντε·
70καὶ ἀπὸ μέρους ἀρχηγῶν τῶν πατριῶν ἔδωκαν εἰς τὸ ἔργον τῷ Νεεμίᾳ εἰς θησαυρὸν χρυσοῦς χιλίους, φιάλας πεντήκοντα καὶ χωθωνὼθ τῶν ἱερέων τριάκοντα.
71καὶ ἀπὸ ἀρχηγῶν τῶν πατριῶν ἔδωκαν εἰς θησαυροὺς τοῦ ἔργου χρυσοῦ νομίσματος δύο μυριάδας καὶ ἀργυρίου μνᾶς δισχιλίας τριακοσίας, καὶ ἔδωκαν οἱ κατάλοιποι τοῦ λαοῦ χρυσίου δύο μυριάδας καὶ ἀργυρίου μνᾶς δισχιλίας διακοσίας καὶ χωθωνὼθ τῶν ἱερέων ἑξηκονταεπτά.
72καί ἐκάθισαν οἱ ἱερεῖς καὶ Λευῖται καὶ οἱ πυλωροὶ καὶ οἱ ᾄδοντες καὶ οἱ ἀπὸ τοῦ λαοῦ καὶ οἱ ναθινὶμ καὶ πᾶς ᾿Ισραὴλ ἐν πόλεσιν αὐτῶν.
1And it came to pass, when the wall was built, and I had set up the doors, and the porters and the singers and the Levites were appointed,
2that I gave charge to Ananias my brother, and Ananias the ruler of the palace, over Jerusalem: for he was a true man, and one that feared God beyond many.
3And I said to them, The gates of Jerusalem shall not be opened till sunrise; and while they are still watching, let the doors be shut, and bolted; and set watches of them that dwell in Jerusalem, [every] man at his post, and [every] man over against his house.
4Now the city [was] wide and large; and the people [were] few in it, and the houses were not built.
5And God put [it] into my heart, and I gathered the nobles, and the rulers, and the people, into companies: and I found a register of the company that came up first, and I found written in it as follows:
6Now these [are] the children of the country, that came up from captivity, of the number which Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon carried away, and they returned to Jerusalem and to Juda, [every] man to his city;
7with Zorobabel, and Jesus, and Neemia, Azaria, and Reelma, Naemani, Mardochaeus, Balsan, Maspharath, Esdra, Boguia, Inaum, Baana, Masphar, men of the people of Israel.
8The children of Phoros, two thousand one hundred and seventy-two.
9The children of Saphatia, three hundred and seventy-two.
10The children of Era, six hundred and fifty-two.
11The children of Phaath Moab, with the children of Jesus and Joab, two thousand six hundred and eighteen.
12The children of Aelam, a thousand two hundred and fifty-four.
13The children of Zathuia, eight hundred and forty-five.
14The children of Zacchu, seven hundred and sixty.
15The children of Banui, six hundred and forty-eight.

57The children of the servants of Solomon; the children of Sutei, the children of Sapharat, the children of Pherida,

59the children of Saphatia, the children of Ettel, the children of Phacarath, the children of Sabaim the children of Emim.
60All the Nathinim, and children of the servants of Solomon, [were] three hundred and ninety-two.
61And these went up from Thelmeleth, Thelaresa, Charub, Eron, Jemer: but they could not declare the houses of their families, or their seed, whether they were of Israel.
62The children of Dalaia, the children of Tobia, the children of Necoda, six hundred and forty-two.
63And of the priests; the children of Ebia, the children of Acos, the children of Berzelli, for they took wives of the daughters of Berzelli the Galaadite, and they were called by their name.
64These sought the pedigree of their company, and it was not found, and they were removed [as polluted] from the priesthood.
65And the Athersastha said, that they should not eat of the most holy things, until a priest should stand up to give light.
66And all the congregation was about forty-two thousand three hundred and sixty,

And the rest of the people gave twenty thousand pieces of gold, and two thousand two hundred pounds of silver, and sixty-seven priests’ [garments].
72And the priests, and Levites, and porters, and singers, and [some] of the people, and the Nathinim, and all Israel, dwelt in their cities.
