¹Bunun üzerine Eyüp Rab'be yanıt vererek şöyle dedi:

²"Her şeyi yapabileceğini ve senin için hiçbir şeyin imkânsız olmadığını biliyorum.

³Tasarıyı senden gizleyen o kişi kimdir? Sözleri esirgeyerek senden bir şeyler sakladığını mı sanıyor? Bilmediğim, anlamadığım o büyük ve harika işleri bana kim bildirecek?

⁴Dinle beni ey Rab, ben de konuşayım; sana sorayım, sen de bana öğret.

⁵Kulaktan dolma duymuştum seni daha önce, şimdiyse gözlerimle gördüm seni.

⁶Bu yüzden kendimi hor görüyor ve eriyorum; kendimi toprak ve kül sayıyorum.

⁷Rab Eyüp'e bu sözlerin hepsini söyledikten sonra, Rab Temanlı Elifaz'a şöyle dedi: 'Sen ve iki arkadaşın günah işlediniz; çünkü hizmetkârım Eyüp gibi huzurumda gerçek olanı konuşmadınız.

⁸Şimdi kendinize yedi boğa ile yedi koç alın ve hizmetkârım Eyüp'e gidin; o sizin için yakmalık sunu sunsun. Hizmetkârım Eyüp sizin için dua edecek, çünkü yalnızca onun yüzünü kabul edeceğim. Eğer onun aracılığı olmasaydı sizi kesinlikle yok ederdim; çünkü hizmetkârım Eyüp'e karşı gerçek olanı konuşmadınız.'

⁹Temanlı Elifaz, Sauhlu Bildat ve Minalı Sofar gidip Rab'bin kendilerine buyurduğu gibi yaptılar; Rab de Eyüp aracılığıyla onların günahını bağışladı.

¹⁰Rab Eyüp'ü yeniden bolluğa kavuşturdu; Eyüp arkadaşları için dua ettiğinde, Rab onların günahını bağışladı. Rab Eyüp'e daha önce sahip olduğu her şeyin iki katını fazlasıyla verdi.

¹¹Bütün erkek ve kız kardeşleri ile onu başlangıçtan beri tanıyanların hepsi başına gelenleri duyunca yanına geldiler. Onunla birlikte yiyip içtiler, onu teselli ettiler ve Rab'bin onun başına getirdiği bütün felaketlere şaştılar. Her biri ona bir dişi kuzu ve birer altın ile basılmamış gümüş tetradrahmi verdi.

¹²Rab Eyüp'ün ömrünün sonunu başlangıcından daha çok kutsadı. On dört bin koyunu, altı bin devesi, bin çift öküzü ve otlaklarda yayılan bin dişi eşeği oldu.

¹⁶Eyüp bu beladan sonra yüz yetmiş yıl daha yaşadı; toplamda iki yüz kırk yıl yaşadı. Eyüp oğullarını, torunlarını ve onların çocuklarını, yani dört kuşak gördü.

¹ΥΠΟΛΑΒΩΝ δὲ ᾿Ιὼβ λέγει τῷ Κυρίῳ·

²οἶδα ὅτι πάντα δύνασαι, ἀδυνατεῖ δέ σοι οὐδέν.

³τίς γάρ ἐστιν ὁ κρύπτων σε βουλήν; φειδόμενος δὲ ῥημάτων, καὶ σὲ οἴεται κρύπτειν; τίς δὲ ἀναγγελεῖ μοι ἃ οὐκ ᾔδειν, μεγάλα καὶ θαυμαστά, ἃ οὐκ ἐπιστάμην;

⁴ἄκουσον δέ μου, Κύριε, ἵνα κἀγὼ λαλήσω· ἐρωτήσω δέ σε, σὺ δέ με δίδαξον.

⁵ἀκοὴν μὲν ὠτὸς ἤκουόν σου τὸ πρότερον, νυνὶ δὲ ὁ ὀφθαλμός μου ἑώρακέ σε·

⁶διὸ ἐφαύλισα ἐμαυτὸν καὶ ἐτάκην, ἥγημαι δὲ ἐμαυτὸν γῆν καὶ σποδόν.

⁷ἐγένετο δὲ μετὰ τὸ λαλῆσαι τὸν Κύριον πάντα τὰ ρήματα ταῦτα τῷ ᾿Ιώβ, εἶπεν ὁ Κύριος ᾿Ελιφὰζ τῷ Θαιμανίτῃ· ἥμαρτες σὺ καὶ οἱ δύο φίλοι σου· οὐ γὰρ ἐλαλήσατε ἐνώπιόν μου ἀληθὲς οὐδὲν ὥσπερ ὁ θεράπων μου ᾿Ιώβ.

⁸νῦν δὲ λάβετε ἑπτὰ μόσχους καὶ ἑπτὰ κριοὺς καὶ πορεύθητε πρὸς τὸν θεράποντά μου ᾿Ιώβ, καὶ ποιήσει κάρπωσιν ὑπὲρ ὑμῶν. ᾿Ιὼβ δὲ ὁ θεράπων μου εὔξεται περὶ ὑμῶν, ὅτι εἰ μὴ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ λήψομαι· εἰ μὴ γὰρ δι᾿ αὐτόν, ἀπώλεσα ἂν ὑμᾶς· οὐ γὰρ ἐλαλήσατε ἀληθὲς κατὰ τοῦ θεράποντός μου ᾿Ιώβ.

⁹ἐπορεύθη δὲ ᾿Ελιφὰζ ὁ Θαιμανίτης καὶ Βαλδὰδ ὁ Σαυχίτης καὶ Σωφὰρ ὁ Μιναῖος καὶ ἐποίησαν καθὼς συνέταξεν αὐτοῖς ὁ Κύριος, καὶ ἔλυσε τὴν ἁμαρτίαν αὐτοῖς διὰ ᾿Ιώβ.

¹⁰ὁ δὲ Κύριος ηὔξησε τὸν ᾿Ιώβ· εὐξαμένου δὲ αὐτοῦ καὶ περὶ τῶν φίλων αὐτοῦ, ἀφῆκεν αὐτοῖς τὴν ἁμαρτίαν. ἔδωκε δὲ ὁ Κύριος διπλᾶ ὅσα ἦν ἔμπροσθεν ᾿Ιὼβ εἰς διπλασιασμόν.

¹¹ἤκουσαν δὲ πάντες οἱ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ αἱ ἀδελφαὶ αὐτοῦ πάντα τὰ συμβεβηκότα αὐτῷ καὶ ἦλθον πρὸς αὐτὸν καὶ πάντες ὅσοι ἤδεισαν αὐτὸν ἐκ πρώτου· φαγόντες δὲ καὶ πιόντες παρ᾿ αὐτῷ παρεκάλεσαν αὐτόν, καὶ ἐθαύμασαν ἐπὶ πᾶσιν, οἷς ἐπήγαγεν ἐπ᾿ αὐτῷ ὁ Κύριος. ἔδωκε δὲ αὐτῷ ἕκαστος ἀμνάδα μίαν καὶ τετράδραχμον χρυσοῦ καὶ ἀσήμου.

¹²ὁ δὲ Κύριος εὐλόγησε τὰ ἔσχατα ᾿Ιὼβ ἢ τὰ ἔμπροσθεν· ἦν δὲ τὰ κτήνη αὐτοῦ πρόβατα μύρια τετρακισχίλια, κάμηλοι ἑξακισχίλιαι, ζεύγη βοῶν χίλια, ὄνοι θήλειαι νομάδες χίλιαι.

¹³γεννῶνται δὲ αὐτῷ υἱοὶ ἑπτὰ καὶ θυγατέρες τρεῖς·

¹⁴καὶ ἐκάλεσε τὴν μὲν πρώτην ῾Ημέραν, τὴν δὲ δευτέραν Κασίαν, τὴν δὲ τρίτην ᾿Αμαλθαίας κέρας.

¹⁵καὶ οὐχ εὑρέθησαν κατὰ τὰς θυγατέρας ᾿Ιὼβ βελτίους αὐτῶν ἐν τῇ ὑπ᾿ οὐρανόν· ἔδωκε δὲ αὐταῖς ὁ πατὴρ κληρονομίαν ἐν τοῖς ἀδελφοῖς.

¹⁶ἔζησε δὲ ᾿Ιὼβ μετὰ τὴν πληγὴν ἔτη ἑκατὸν ἑβδομήκοντα, τὰ δὲ πάντα ἔτη ἔζησε διακόσια τεσσαράκοντα· καὶ εἶδεν ᾿Ιὼβ τοὺς υἱοὺς αὐτοῦ καὶ τοὺς υἱοὺς τῶν υἱῶν αὐτοῦ, τετάρτην γενεάν.

¹⁷καὶ ἐτελεύτησεν ᾿Ιὼβ πρεσβύτερος καὶ πλήρης ἡμερῶν. 17α γέγραπται δὲ αὐτὸν πάλιν ἀναστήσεσθαι μεθ᾿ ὧν ὁ Κύριος ἀνίστησιν. 17β Οὗτος ἑρμηνεύεται ἐκ τῆς Συριακῆς βίβλου ἐν μὲν γῇ κατοικῶν τῇ Αὐσίτιδι, ἐπὶ τοῖς ὁρίοις τῆς ᾿Ιδουμαίας καὶ ᾿Αραβίας, προϋπῆρχε δὲ αὐτῷ ὄνομα ᾿Ιωβάβ. 17γ λαβὼν δὲ γυναῖκα ᾿Αράβισσαν γεννᾷ υἱόν, ᾧ ὄνομα ᾿Εννών· ἦν δὲ αὐτὸς πατρὸς μὲν Ζαρὲ ἐκ τῶν ῾Ησαῦ υἱῶν υἱός, μητρός δὲ Βοσόρρας, ὥστε εἶναι αὐτὸν πέμπτον ἀπὸ ῾Αβραάμ. 17δ καὶ οὗτοι οἱ βασιλεῖς οἱ βασιλεύσαντες ἐν ᾿Εδώμ, ἧς καὶ αὐτὸς ἦρξε χώρας· πρῶτος Βαλὰκ ὁ τοῦ Βεώρ, καὶ ὄνομα τῇ πόλει αὐτοῦ Δενναβά· μετὰ δὲ Βαλὰκ ᾿Ιωβὰβ ὁ καλούμενος ᾿Ιώβ· μετὰ δὲ τοῦτον ᾿Ασὼμ ὁ ὑπάρχων ἡγεμὼν ἐκ τῆς Θαιμανίτιδος χώρας· μετὰ δὲ τοῦτον ᾿Αδὰδ υἱὸς Βαράδ, ὁ ἐκκόψας Μαδιὰμ ἐν τῷ πεδίῳ Μωάβ, καὶ ὄνομα τῇ πόλει αὐτοῦ Γεθθαίμ. 17ε οἱ δὲ ἐλθόντες πρὸς αὐτὸν φίλοι, ᾿Ελιφὰζ τῶν ῾Ησαῦ υἱῶν, Θαιμανῶν βασιλεύς, Βαλδὰδ ὁ Σαυχαίων τύραννος, Σωφὰρ ὁ Μιναίων βασιλεύς.

¹Then Job answered and said to the Lord,

²I know that thou canst do all things, and nothing is impossible with thee.

³For who is he that hides counsel from thee? or who keeps back his words, and thinks to hide them from thee? and who will tell me what I knew not, great and wonderful things which I understood not?

⁴But hear me, O Lord, that I also may speak: and I will ask thee, and do thou teach me.

⁵I have heard the report of thee by the ear before; but now mine eye has seen thee.

⁶Wherefore I have counted myself vile, and have fainted: and I esteem myself dust and ashes.

⁷And it came to pass after the Lord had spoken all these words to Job, [that] the Lord said to Eliphaz the Thaemanite, Thou hast sinned, and thy two friends: for ye have not said anything true before me, as my servant Job [has].

⁸Now then take seven bullocks, and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and he shall offer a burnt-offering for you. And my servant Job shall pray for you, for I will only accept him: for but his sake, I would have destroyed you, for ye have not spoken the truth against my servant Job.

⁹So Eliphaz the Thaemnite, and Baldad the Sauchite, and Sophar the Minaean, went and did as the Lord commanded them: and he pardoned their sin for the sake of Job.

¹⁰And the Lord prospered Job: and when he prayed also for his friends, he forgave them [their] sin: and the Lord gave Job twice as much, even the double of what he had before.

¹¹And all his brethren and his sisters heard all that had happened to him, and they came to him, and [so did] all that had known him from the first: and they ate and drank with him, and comforted him, and wondered at all that the Lord had brought upon him: and each one gave him a lamb, and four drachms’ weight of gold, even of unstamped [gold].

¹²And the Lord blessed the latter end of Job, [more] than the beginning: and his cattle were fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, a thousand yoke of oxen, a thousand she-asses of the pastures.

¹³And there were born to him seven sons and three daughters.

¹⁴And he called the first Day, and the second Casia, and the third Amalthaea’s horn.

¹⁵And there were not found in comparison with the daughters of Job, fairer [women] than they in all the world: and their father gave them an inheritance among their brethren.

¹⁶And Job lived after [his] affliction a hundred and seventy years: and all the years he lived were two hundred and forty: and Job saw his sons and his sons’ sons, the fourth generation. And Job died, an old man and full of days: 17α and it is written that he will rise again with those whom the Lord raises up. 17β This man is described in the Syriac book [as] living in the land of Ausis, on the borders of Idumea and Arabia: and his name before was Jobab; 17γ and having taken an Arabian wife, he begot a son whose name was Ennon. And he himself was the son of his father Zare, one of the sons of Esau, and of his mother Bosorrha, so that he was the fifth from Abraam. 17δ And these were the kings who reigned in Edom, which country he also ruled over: first, Balac, the son of Beor, and the name of his city was Dennaba: but after Baac, Jobab, who is called Job, and after him Asom, who was governor out of the country of Thaeman: and after him Adad, the son of Barad, who destroyed Madiam in the plain of Moab; and the name of his city was Gethaim. 17ε And [his] friends who came to him were Eliphaz, of the children of Esau, king of the Thaemanites, Baldad son of the Sauchaeans, Sophar king of the Kinaeans.
