¹Rab Musa’ya şöyle dedi: “Firavun’un huzuruna çık ve ona de ki: İbranilerin Tanrısı Rab şöyle buyuruyor: ‘Halkımı salıver ki bana ibadet etsinler.’

²Şayet halkımı salıvermeyi reddeder ve onları hâlâ zorla elinde tutmaya devam edersen,

³işte, Rab’bin eli kırlardaki hayvanlarının; atların, eşeklerin, develerin, sığırların ve davarların üzerinde olacak ve son derece büyük bir ölümcül salgın baş gösterecektir.

⁴O vakit ben, Mısırlıların hayvanları ile İsrailoğullarının hayvanları arasında sıra dışı bir ayrım yapacağım; İsrailoğullarına ait olanlardan belirlenmiş tek bir can bile ölmeyecektir.”

⁵Tanrı bir vade belirleyerek, “Yarın Rab bu topraklarda bu sözü yerine getirecektir” dedi.

⁶Ertesi gün Rab bu sözü yerine getirdi ve Mısırlıların bütün hayvanları telef oldu; fakat İsrailoğullarının hayvanlarından tek bir tanesi bile ölmedi.

⁷Firavun adam gönderip baktırdığında, İsrailoğullarının hayvanlarından gerçekten de tek bir canın bile ölmediğini gördü. Buna rağmen Firavun’un yüreği ağırlaştı ve halkı salıvermedi.

⁸Rab Musa ile Harun’a şöyle dedi: “Avuçlarınızı ocak kurumuyla doldurun; Musa bunu Firavun’un ve hizmetkârlarının gözü önünde göğe doğru savursun.

⁹Bu kurum bütün Mısır ülkesinin üzerinde ince bir toza dönüşecek; tüm Mısır toprağında insanların ve dört ayaklı hayvanların üzerinde kabaran, irinli çıbanlar oluşturacaktır.”

¹⁰Böylece ocak kurumunu alıp Firavun’un önünde durdular. Musa kurumu göğe doğru savurdu; insanlarda ve dört ayaklı hayvanlarda kabaran, irinli çıbanlar meydana geldi.

¹¹Büyücüler bu çıbanlar yüzünden Musa’nın karşısında duramaz oldular; çünkü çıbanlar hem büyücülerin üzerinde hem de bütün Mısır ülkesinde çıkmıştı.

¹²Ancak Rab Firavun’un yüreğini sertleştirdi ve Rab’bin buyurduğu gibi, Firavun onlara kulak asmadı.

¹³Rab Musa’ya şöyle dedi: “Sabah erkenden kalk, Firavun’un huzuruna çık ve ona de ki: İbranilerin Tanrısı Rab şöyle buyuruyor: ‘Halkımı salıver ki bana ibadet etsinler.’

¹⁴Çünkü bu kez bütün darbelerimi senin yüreğine, hizmetkârlarının ve halkının üzerine göndereceğim; öyle ki, tüm yeryüzünde benim gibisi olmadığını bilesin.

¹⁵Zira şimdi elimi uzatıp seni vurmuş ve halkını ölümle cezalandırmış olsaydım, yeryüzünden tamamen silinip gitmiştin.

¹⁶Fakat gücümü sende göstermek ve adımı tüm yeryüzünde duyurmak için hayatta tutuldun.

¹⁷Hâlâ halkımı salıvermemek için onlara engel mi oluyorsun?

¹⁸İşte yarın bu saatlerde, Mısır’ın yaratıldığı günden bu yana benzeri görülmemiş, son derece şiddetli bir dolu yağdıracağım.

¹⁹Şimdi acele et, hayvanlarını ve kırlarda neyin varsa hepsini bir araya topla. Çünkü kırlarda bulunup da eve getirilmeyen her insanın ve hayvanın üzerine dolu yağacak ve hepsi ölecektir.’”

²⁰Firavun’un hizmetkârları arasında Rab’bin sözünden korkan kimse, hayvanlarını ve kölelerini hemen evlere topladı.

²¹Rab’bin sözüne zihnini yöneltmeyen kimse ise hayvanlarını kırlarda bıraktı.

²²Rab Musa’ya şöyle dedi: “Elini göğe doğru uzat; Mısır ülkesinin her yerine; insanların, hayvanların ve Mısır toprağındaki bütün otların üzerine dolu yağsın.”

²³Musa elini göğe doğru uzattı; Rab gök gürlemeleri ve dolu gönderdi, yeryüzüne ateşler aktı. Rab Mısır ülkesinin üzerine dolu yağdırdı.

²⁴Öyle bir dolu yağdı ve dolunun arasında öyle bir ateş alevlendi ki, Mısır bir ulus olduğundan beri tüm ülkede böylesi hiç görülmemişti.

²⁵Dolu, Mısır’ın her yerinde kırlarda olan insanlardan hayvanlara kadar her şeyi vurdu. Kırlardaki bütün otları mahvetti ve kırlardaki bütün ağaçları parçaladı.

²⁶Sadece İsrailoğullarının bulunduğu Gesem bölgesine dolu düşmedi.

²⁷Bunun üzerine Firavun adam gönderip Musa ile Harun’u çağırttı ve onlara, “Bu kez günah işledim” dedi, “Rab adildir; ben ve halkım ise suçluyuz.

²⁸Rab’be benim için dua edin; Tanrı’nın bu gök gürlemeleri, dolusu ve ateşi artık son bulsun. Sizi salıvereceğim, artık burada kalmanıza gerek yoktur.”

²⁹Musa ona, “Şehirden çıkar çıkmaz ellerimi Rab’be doğru açacağım” dedi, “Gök gürlemeleri dinecek, dolu ve yağmur da artık yağmayacak; böylece yeryüzünün Rab’be ait olduğunu bilesin.

³⁰Fakat senin ve hizmetkârlarının Rab Tanrı’dan henüz korkmadığınızı biliyorum.”

³¹Keten ve arpa mahvolmuştu; çünkü arpa olgunlaşmış, keten ise tohumlanmıştı.

³²Ancak buğday ve çavdar zarar görmedi, çünkü onlar geç olgunlaşanlardandı.

³³Musa Firavun’un yanından çıkıp şehrin dışına gitti ve ellerini Rab’be doğru açtı. Gök gürlemesi ve dolu dindi, yeryüzüne yağmur damlamaz oldu.

³⁴Firavun yağmurun, dolunun ve gök gürlemesinin dindiğini görünce günah işlemeyi sürdürdü; hem kendisinin hem de hizmetkârlarının yüreği ağırlaştı.

³⁵Firavun’un yüreği sertleşti ve Rab’bin Musa aracılığıyla bildirdiği gibi, İsrailoğullarını salıvermedi.

¹ΕΙΠΕ δὲ Κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν· εἴσελθε πρὸς Φαραὼ καὶ ἐρεῖς αὐτῷ· τάδε λέγει Κύριος ὁ Θεὸς τῶν ῾Εβραίων· ἐξαπόστειλον τὸν λαόν μου, ἵνα μοι λατρεύσωσιν·

²εἰ μὲν οὖν μή βούλει ἐξαποστεῖλαι τὸν λαόν μου, ἀλλὰ ἔτι ἐγκρατεῖς αὐτοῦ,

³ἰδοὺ χεὶρ Κυρίου ἐπέσται ἐν τοῖς κτήνεσί σου τοῖς ἐν τοῖς πεδίοις, ἔν τε τοῖς ἵπποις καὶ ἐν τοῖς ὑποζυγίοις καὶ ταῖς καμήλοις καὶ βουσὶ καὶ προβάτοις, θάνατος μέγας σφόδρα.

⁴καὶ παραδοξάσω ἐγὼ ἐν τῷ καιρῷ ἐκείνῳ ἀνὰ μέσον τῶν κτηνῶν τῶν Αἰγυπτίων καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον τῶν κτηνῶν τῶν υἱῶν ᾿Ισραήλ· οὐ τελευτήσει ἀπὸ πάντων τῶν τοῦ ᾿Ισραὴλ υἱῶν ῥητόν.

⁵καὶ ἔδωκεν ὁ Θεὸς ὅρον λέγων· ἐν τῇ αὔριον ποιήσει Κύριος τὸ ρῆμα τοῦτο ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς.

⁶καὶ ἐποίησε Κύριος τὸ ρῆμα τοῦτο τῇ ἐπαύριον, καὶ ἐτελεύτησε πάντα τὰ κτήνη τῶν Αἰγυπτίων, ἀπὸ δὲ τῶν κτηνῶν τῶν υἱῶν ᾿Ισραὴλ οὐκ ἐτελεύτησεν οὐδέν.

⁷ἰδὼν δὲ Φαραὼ ὅτι οὐκ ἐτελεύτησεν ἀπὸ πάντων τῶν κτηνῶν τῶν υἱῶν ᾿Ισραὴλ οὐδέν, ἐβαρύνθη ἡ καρδία Φαραώ, καὶ οὐκ ἐξαπέστειλε τὸν λαόν.

⁸Εἶπε δὲ Κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν καὶ ᾿Ααρὼν λέγων· λάβετε ὑμεῖς πλήρεις τὰς χεῖρας αἰθάλης καμιναίας, καὶ πασάτω Μωυσῆς εἰς τὸν οὐρανὸν ἐναντίον Φαραὼ καὶ ἐναντίον τῶν θεραπόντων αὐτοῦ,

⁹καὶ γενηθήτω κονιορτὸς ἐπὶ πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν Αἰγύπτου, καὶ ἔσται ἐπὶ τούς ἀνθρώπους καὶ ἐπὶ τὰ τετράποδα ἕλκη, φλυκτίδες ἀναζέουσαι, ἔν τε τοῖς ἀνθρώποις καὶ ἐν τοῖς τετράποσι καὶ ἐν πάσῃ γῇ Αἰγύπτου.

¹⁰καὶ ἔλαβε τὴν αἰθάλην τῆς καμιναίας ἐναντίον Φαραώ, καὶ ἔπασεν αὐτὴν Μωυσῆς εἰς τὸν οὐρανόν, καὶ ἐγένετο ἕλκη, φλυκτίδες ἀναζέουσαι, ἔν τε τοῖς ἀνθρώποις καὶ ἐν τοῖς τετράποσι.

¹¹καὶ οὐκ ἠδύναντο οἱ φαρμακοὶ στῆναι ἐναντίον Μωυσῆ διὰ τὰ ἕλκη· ἐγένετο γὰρ τὰ ἕλκη ἐν τοῖς φαρμακοῖς καὶ ἐν πάσῃ γῇ Αἰγύπτῳ.

¹²ἐσκλήρυνε δὲ Κύριος τὴν καρδίαν Φαραώ, καὶ οὐκ εἰσήκουσεν αὐτῶν, καθὰ συνέταξε Κύριος.

¹³Εἶπε δὲ Κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν· ὄρθρισον τὸ πρωΐ καὶ στῆθι ἐναντίον Φαραὼ καὶ ἐρεῖς πρὸς αὐτόν· τάδε λέγει Κύριος ὁ Θεὸς τῶν ῾Εβραίων· ἐξαπόστειλον τὸν λαόν μου, ἵνα λατρεύσωσί μοι·

¹⁴ἐν τῷ γὰρ νῦν καιρῷ ἐγὼ ἐξαποστέλλω πάντα τὰ συναντήματά μου εἰς τὴν καρδίαν σου καὶ τῶν θεραπόντων σου καὶ τοῦ λαοῦ σου, ἵνα εἰδῇς ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν ὡς ἐγὼ ἄλλος ἐν πάσῃ τῇ γῇ·

¹⁵νῦν γὰρ ἀποστείλας τὴν χεῖρα πατάξω σε, καὶ τὸν λαόν σου θανατώσω, καὶ ἐκτριβήσῃ ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς·

¹⁶καὶ ἕνεκεν τούτου διετηρήθης, ἵνα ἐνδείξωμαι ἐν σοὶ τὴν ἰσχύν μου, καὶ ὅπως διαγγελῇ τὸ ὄνομά μου ἐν πάσῃ τῇ γῇ.

¹⁷ἔτι οὖν σὺ ἐμποιῇ τοῦ λαοῦ μου τοῦ μὴ ἐξαποστεῖλαι αὐτούς;

¹⁸ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ὕω ταύτην τὴν ὥραν αὔριον χάλαζαν πολλὴν σφόδρα, ἥτις τοιαύτη οὐ γέγονεν ἐν Αἰγύπτῳ, ἀφ᾿ ἧς ἡμέρας ἔκτισται ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ταύτης.

¹⁹νῦν οὖν κατάσπευσον συναγαγεῖν τὰ κτήνη σου καὶ ὅσα σοί ἐστιν ἐν τῷ πεδίῳ· πάντες γὰρ οἱ ἄνθρωποι καὶ τὰ κτήνη, ὅσα ἐὰν εὑρεθῇ ἐν τοῖς πεδίοις καὶ μὴ εἰσέλθῃ εἰς οἰκίαν, πέσῃ δὲ ἐπ᾿ αὐτὰ ἡ χάλαζα, τελευτήσει.

²⁰ὁ φοβούμενος τὸ ρῆμα Κυρίου τῶν θεραπόντων Φαραὼ συνήγαγε τὰ κτήνη αὐτοῦ εἰς τοὺς οἴκους·

²¹ὃς δὲ μὴ προσέσχε τῇ διανοίᾳ εἰς τὸ ρῆμα Κυρίου, ἀφῆκε τὰ κτήνη ἐν τοῖς πεδίοις.

²²εἶπε δὲ Κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν· ἔκτεινον τὴν χεῖρά σου εἰς τὸν οὐρανόν, καὶ ἔσται χάλαζα ἐπὶ πᾶσαν γῆν Αἰγύπτου, ἐπί τε τοὺς ἀνθρώπους καὶ τὰ κτήνη καὶ ἐπὶ πᾶσαν βοτάνην τὴν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς.

²³ἐξέτεινε δὲ Μωυσῆς τὴν χεῖρα εἰς τὸν οὐρανόν, καὶ Κύριος ἔδωκε φωνὰς καὶ χάλαζαν, καὶ διέτρεχε τὸ πῦρ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς, καὶ ἔβρεξε Κύριος χάλαζαν ἐπὶ πᾶσαν γῆν Αἰγύπτου.

²⁴ἦν δὲ ἡ χάλαζα καὶ τὸ πῦρ φλογίζον ἐν τῇ χαλάζῃ· ἡ δὲ χάλαζα πολλὴ σφόδρα, ἥτις τοιαύτη οὐ γέγονεν ἐν Αἰγύπτῳ, ἀφ᾿ ἧς ἡμέρας γεγένηται ἐπ᾿ αὐτῆς ἔθνος.

²⁵ἐπάταξε δὲ ἡ χάλαζα ἐν πάσῃ γῇ Αἰγύπτου ἀπὸ ἀνθρώπου ἕως κτήνους, καὶ πᾶσαν βοτάνην τὴν ἐν τῷ πεδίῳ ἐπάταξεν ἡ χάλαζα, καὶ πάντα τὰ ξύλα τὰ ἐν τοῖς πεδίοις συνέτριψεν ἡ χάλαζα·

²⁶πλὴν ἐν γῇ Γεσέμ, οὗ ἦσαν οἱ υἱοὶ ᾿Ισραήλ, οὐκ ἐγένετο ἡ χάλαζα.

²⁷ἀποστείλας δὲ Φαραώ ἐκάλεσε Μωυσῆν καὶ ᾿Ααρὼν καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· ἡμάρτηκα τὸ νῦν· ὁ Κύριος δίκαιος, ἐγὼ δὲ καὶ ὁ λαός μου ἀσεβεῖς.

²⁸εὔξασθε οὖν περὶ ἐμοῦ πρὸς Κύριον, καὶ παυσάσθω τοῦ γενηθῆναι φωνὰς Θεοῦ καὶ χάλαζαν καὶ πῦρ· καὶ ἐξαποστελῶ ὑμᾶς, καὶ οὐκέτι προστεθήσεσθε μένειν.

²⁹εἶπε δὲ αὐτῷ Μωυσῆς· ὡς ἂν ἐξέλθω τὴν πόλιν, ἐκπετάσω τὰς χεῖράς μου πρὸς τὸν Κύριον, καὶ αἱ φωναὶ παύσονται, καὶ ἡ χάλαζα καὶ ὁ ὑετὸς οὐκ ἔσται ἔτι, ἵνα γνῷς ὅτι τοῦ Κυρίου ἡ γῆ.

³⁰καὶ σὺ καὶ οἱ θεράποντές σου, ἐπίσταμαι ὅτι οὐδέπω πεφόβησθε τὸν Κύριον.

³¹τὸ δὲ λίνον καὶ ἡ κριθὴ ἐπλήγη· ἡ γὰρ κριθὴ παρεστηκυῖα, τὸ δὲ λίνον σπερματίζον.

³²ὁ δὲ πυρὸς καὶ ἡ ὀλύρα οὐκ ἐπλήγησαν, ὄψιμα γὰρ ἦν.

³³ἐξῆλθε δὲ Μωυσῆς ἀπὸ Φαραὼ ἐκτὸς τῆς πόλεως καὶ ἐξέτεινε τὰς χεῖρας πρὸς Κύριον, καὶ αἱ φωναὶ ἐπαύσαντο καὶ ἡ χάλαζα, καὶ ὁ ὑετὸς οὐκ ἔσταξεν ἔτι ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν.

³⁴ἰδὼν δὲ Φαραὼ ὅτι πέπαυται ὁ ὑετὸς καὶ ἡ χάλαζα καὶ αἱ φωναί, προσέθετο τοῦ ἁμαρτάνειν καὶ ἐβάρυνεν αὐτοῦ τὴν καρδίαν καὶ τῶν θεραπόντων αὐτοῦ.

³⁵καὶ ἐσκληρύνθη ἡ καρδία Φαραώ, καὶ οὐκ ἐξαπέστειλε τοὺς υἱοὺς ᾿Ισραήλ, καθάπερ ἐλάλησε Κύριος τῷ Μωυσῇ.

¹And the Lord said to Moses, Go in to Pharao, and thou shalt say to him, These things saith the Lord God of the Hebrews; Send my people away that they may serve me.

²If however thou wilt not send my people away, but yet detainest them:

³behold, the hand of the Lord shall be upon thy cattle in the fields, both on the horses, and on the asses, and on the camels and oxen and sheep, a very great mortality.

⁴And I will make a marvelous distinction in that time between the cattle of the Egyptians, and the cattle of the children of Israel: nothing shall die of all that is of the children’s of Israel.

⁵And God fixed a limit, saying, To-morrow the Lord will do this thing on the land.6 And the Lord did this thing on the next day, and all the cattle of the Egyptians died, but of the cattle of the children of Israel there died not one.

⁷And when Pharao saw, that of all the cattle of the children of Israel there died not one, the heart of Pharao was hardened, and he did not let the people go.

⁸And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying, Take you handfuls of ashes of the furnace, and let Moses scatter it toward heaven before Pharao, and before his servants.

⁹And let it become dust over all the land of Egypt, and there shall be upon men and upon beasts sore blains breaking forth both on men and on beasts, in all the land of Egypt.

¹⁰So he took of the ashes of the furnace before Pharao, and Moses scattered it toward heaven, and it became sore blains breaking forth both on men and on beasts.

¹¹And the sorcerers could not stand before Moses because of the sores, for the sores were on the sorcerers, and in all the land of Egypt.

¹²And the Lord hardened Pharao’s heart, and he hearkened not to them, as the Lord appointed.

¹³And the Lord said to Moses, Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharao; and thou shalt say to him, These things saith the Lord God of the Hebrews, Send away my people that they may serve me.

¹⁴For at this present time do I send forth all my plagues into thine heart, and the heart of thy servants and of thy people; that thou mayest know that there is not another such as I in all the earth.

¹⁵For now I will stretch forth my hand and smite thee and kill thy people, and thou shalt be consumed from off the earth.

¹⁶And for this purpose hast thou been preserved, that I might display in thee my strength, and that my name might be published in all the earth.

¹⁷Dost thou then yet exert thyself to hinder my people, so as not to let them go?

¹⁸Behold, to-morrow at this hour I will rain a very great hail, such as has not been in Egypt, from the time it was created until this day.

¹⁹Now then hasten to gather thy cattle, and all that thou hast in the fields; for all the men and cattle as many as shall be found in the fields, and shall not enter into a house, (but the hail shall fall upon them,) shall die.

²⁰He of the servants of Pharao that feared the word of the Lord, gathered his cattle into the houses.

²¹And he that did not attend in his mind to the word of the Lord, left the cattle in the fields.

²²And the Lord said to Moses, Stretch out thine hand to heaven, and there shall be hail on all the land of Egypt, both on the men and on the cattle, and on all the herbage on the land.

²³And Moses stretched forth his hand to heaven, and the Lord sent thunderings and hail; and the fire ran along upon the ground, and the Lord rained hail on all the land of Egypt.

²⁴So there was hail and flaming fire mingled with hail; and the hail was very great, such as was not in Egypt, from the time there was a nation upon it.

²⁵And the hail smote in all the land of Egypt both man and beast, and the hail smote all the grass in the field, and the hail broke in pieces all the trees in the field.

²⁶Only in the land of Gesem where the children of Israel were, the hail was not.

²⁷And Pharao sent and called Moses and Aaron, and said to them, I have sinned this time: the Lord [is] righteous, and I and my people are wicked.

²⁸Pray then for me to the Lord, and let him cause the thunderings of God to cease, and the hail and the fire, and I will send you forth and ye shall remain no longer.

²⁹And Moses said to him, When I shall have departed from the city, I will stretch out my hands to the Lord, and the thunderings shall cease, and the hail and the rain shall be no longer, that thou mayest know that the earth [is] the Lord’s.

³⁰But as for thee and thy servants, I know that ye have not yet feared the Lord.

³¹And the flax and the barley were smitten, for the barley was advanced, and the flax was seeding.

³²But the wheat and the rye were not smitten, for they were late.

³³And Moses went forth from Pharao out of the city, and stretched out his hands to the Lord, and the thunders ceased and the hail, and the rain did not drop on the earth.

³⁴And when Pharao saw that the rain and the hail and the thunders ceased, he continued to sin; and [he] hardened his heart, and the heart of his servants.

³⁵And the heart of Pharao was hardened, and he did not send forth the children of Israel, as the Lord said to Moses.
